The Maya collection: crystal masterpieces inspired by the Caribbean

True to its artistic heritage, Daum Crystal explores the depths of the Caribbean, and more specifically those of the Riviera Maya in northeastern Mexico. Through this collection, the aquatic world becomes a territory of expression: a crystallized realm where light, color, and movement combine to give life to exceptional works of art. Maya is not merely an aesthetic evocation of the oceans; it is a true celebration of untamed nature, a vibrant tribute to the Mayan civilization and its profound connection with the elements. Marine creatures unfold with sculptural grace, captured in mid-movement, as if frozen in the eternity of crystal. The ocean, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Daum Crystal since the 1900s, is revisited here with modernity, precision, and poetry.

Marine creatures unfold with sculptural grace, captured in mid-movement, as if frozen in the eternity of crystal. The ocean, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Daum Crystal since the 1900s, is revisited here with modernity, precision, and poetry.

At the heart of the Maya collection lies the magnum vase, the quintessential centerpiece. Monumental in its size (54 cm) and its presence, this vase depicts six rays in a striking aquatic choreography. Sculpted with remarkable precision, they move within a turquoise palette reminiscent of the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Limited to 99 pieces, this vase is the result of exceptional craftsmanship: over 500 hours of work, 17 days of firing, and rigorous quality control at every stage. The result: a living work of art, whose light reveals the full richness of its sparkles and reflections. In the same spirit of excellence, the large model vase illustrates a scene of remarkable visual intensity: eight dolphins emerge from the water in a majestic leap. The crystal embraces the forms with an almost liquid lightness, enhanced by a gradient of colors ranging from milky white to deep turquoise. Limited to 175 pieces, this masterpiece testifies to Daum's virtuosity in capturing movement within matter. The Maya collection also features a spectacular centerpiece, where three rays appear to undulate gently, as if carried by an invisible current. Adorned with mother-of-pearl, they diffuse an iridescent light that accentuates their organic and mysterious presence. Every detail is designed to magnify nature, in an interpretation that is both faithful and stylized.

Maya: the art of crystal to enhance the marine imagination

Beyond these monumental pieces, the Maya collection unfolds in a series of more intimate creations, equally remarkable for their finesse and expressiveness. The shell vase, adorned with delicate mother-of-pearl discs, evokes the gentleness of tropical shores. The round bowl, entirely sculpted with rays in motion, plays on the transparency and undulations of the crystal to convey the sensation of water. The seahorse, a refined creation in deep shades of turquoise blue, completes this series. Finally, a collection of batfish, colored in vibrant hues (solar yellow, lagoon blue, emerald green), completes the ensemble. Through Maya, the House of Daum perpetuates its heritage of marine inspiration, begun in the 1900s and successfully revisited over the decades. This collection celebrates the ocean, a source of life and infinite inspiration, by combining the ancestral technique of pâte de cristal with contemporary innovation. More than a collection, Maya is an invitation to travel: a plunge into a world where natural beauty becomes eternal thanks to the hand of man.
