Michel Coste, a French sculptor born in Aix-en-Provence in 1939, is a man who combines writing and sculpture. He works particularly with natural marbles. This particular technique, worked directly on blocks found in streams, is recognized as an original and unique approach, a fundamental research of the form. He starts to work on “pâte de cristal” with Daum for its clarity, its luminosity, and the translucency of faces and bodies, which gives a fresh look to his work. Une Aurore and Marine are silhouettes of women frozen in amber “pâte de cristal”, where everything is a play of light, transparency and opacity.
