The floral sculptor honored by Maison Daum: Emilio Robba
The Borneo line, created in 2017, includes vases, wall foliage, and centerpieces in a vibrant green, with shimmering reflections of both golden and turquoise, enhancing the brilliance of light filtered through the crystal. Exquisitely crafted, these pieces perfectly mimic reality, engaging our senses and emotions to create unforgettable works of rare intensity. Born in Italy in 1944, Emilio Robba has undeniably revolutionized the world of floral sculpture. During his studies in painting and sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he developed a true passion for floral art, quickly becoming one of the world's most celebrated icons. His compositions skillfully blend nature, sculpture, and interior design. They are now internationally renowned for their exceptional refinement and striking realism. The artist notably created a series of orchids so detailed they appeared almost real. This collection popularized the "illusion flower" in the luxury sector. To refine his art and make it ever more realistic and poetic, the man who became known as "the floral sculptor" also worked in the United States and Japan, where he studied ikebana. Among his most famous creations, Emilio Robba conceived the "draped vase." This vase first appeared at the Natural History Museum in Paris in 1984, for the orchid exhibition he himself organized. Captivated by the beauty and poetry of his work, the Daum crystalworks had the honor of collaborating with this renowned sculptor on several occasions.
Borneo by Emilio Robba, an immersion into the heart of a lush jungle
Today, Daum and Emilio Robba once again celebrate the poetry and subtlety of floral art with the Borneo line. Created in 2017, the Borneo collection represents a sublime dialogue with nature, where delicate exotic foliage interacts with the reflections of the sun to compose powerful and moving tableaux. This line, developed by Emilio Robba and Daum, captures the light of lush nature, forming unique crystal sculptures of exceptional beauty. Borneo includes vases, bowls, centerpieces, and wall flowers of rare finesse, crafted from crystal paste and available in limited editions. These pieces are adorned with warm, autumnal hues—green and amber—and with more refreshing, summery tones—turquoise and bright green. The first evokes the richness of the deep forest and leaves burnished golden by time, while the second reflects the solar energy and exuberance of summer jungles. Sculpted in light and crystal with extraordinary mastery, these works seem to emerge from the earth to better unfurl their luxuriant foliage under the sun's rays. Each vase, bowl, centerpiece, or wall hanging is a celebration of life, capturing movement and organic matter with rare intensity.
