Daum and roses, a love story that transcends time

Each year, our artisans create works that celebrate light with colors and forms as subtle as they are poetic. Among our favorite subjects are floral compositions, and roses in particular. These flowers, Daum's eternal muses, are reinterpreted every decade, becoming the living symbol of love, femininity, and light.
It was in 1893, with the emergence of Art Nouveau, that Daum deeply incorporated nature into its artistic approach. Just a decade later, in 1902, the crystalworks developed a technique using oxides and mineral salts fused into the glass paste, which allowed for coloring the material. This revolutionary method enabled Daum to enhance its creations by giving them delicate reflections, sublimated by the sun's rays. As early as 1905, the Manufacture created its first collection entirely dedicated to roses. The flower gradually became an emblematic figure in the Daum catalog, just like camellias a few years later, or, in another field, horses. The Roses line that we are presenting today has existed since 1999 and continues to be revisited by our artists. It includes vases, bowls, dishes, candle holders, and trinket trays with delicate shapes, perfectly imitating the petals of these subtle and refined flowers. In 2012, the Rose Passion collection reinvented this iconic line, modernizing it while preserving its timeless charm. The pieces in this collection are adorned with complex and dreamlike hues, such as the violet-blue gradient used for the "ultraviolet" models or the pink-green gradient found on bowls and vases. These exceptional colors capture the light, allowing the beauty of the crystal corollas to blossom. Each relief evokes the fragility of the original flower, while simultaneously enhancing its mysterious forms, which seem to conceal a wondrous secret.
