In 1992, Daum initiated a groundbreaking dialogue between still life and glass art with designer Hilton McConnico. Together, they created a series of life-size crystal fruits—apple, pear, plum, fig, peach, and pomegranate—in a quest for absolute fidelity to reality. This pioneering work, combining precise forms and masterful use of color, laid the foundations for a unique artistic language: that of nature frozen in light. Following in this tradition, the 2014 collaboration with Martin Bullard marked a new stage in this exploration of fruit as an art object. His creation of a sculptural yet functional apple paperweight continues this tradition while adding a contemporary touch. Through his sensitive approach to the material and his singular vision, Bullard elegantly reinterprets the iconic fruit, thus extending the dialogue between nature, design, and glassmaking expertise.

Today, Daum entrusts Gilles Neveu with the task of extending this tradition by exploring a new territory: the exotic fruits of Asia. The designer takes up the challenge with an approach that is both botanical and poetic, striving to capture the organic essence of five emblematic fruits: the pomegranate, the trio of bananas, the dragon fruit, the custard apple, and the star fruit, in a limited edition of 399 pieces.
