Today, for Daum, the artist Jean Faucheur decides to offer a new perspective on its artwork «Masque de verre,» originally released in blue in 2004, by introducing a new amber color, an iconic tone of the crystal house. Through this change of color, he aims to reinforce his message by questioning the perception one may have of a mask, a face, or a silhouette. In this work of art, a limited edition of 75, the artist plays with forms as if working with paper, sculpting the face with folds where the absence of details arouses our perception and recognition of a visage.
Both contemporary and timeless, thanks to Jean Faucheur’s artistic touch, this artwork raises questions and compels us to revisit our norms. As a visionary, the artist manipulates crystal paste, molding it like a flexible material and creating an optical illusion.
