With the Constellation incense burner, Hicham Lahlou and Cheick Diallo join forces with Maison Daum to crystallize a powerful narrative: that of a plural Africa, rich in languages and diverse beliefs, yet united through shared gestures and traditions. Here, incense—an enduring symbol of spirituality, memory, and human connection—becomes a medium for creation and transmission.

Crafted using Daum's ancestral pâte de cristal technique and enhanced by a finely pierced gilded incense holder, this medkhan pays tribute to the rituals of the East while boldly expressing the creativity of contemporary African design. The crystal, with its distinctive texture and subtle gradations of transparency, captures and refracts light to evoke the glowing warmth of fire.

Echoing the aesthetics of the African continent, the piece is adorned with a delicate pattern of engraved dots—a refined artistic reference to traditional African motifs that brings both graphic texture and historical depth to the object. In contrast, the openwork upper structure allows wisps of incense smoke to rise gracefully while evoking constellations and celestial bodies, timeless spiritual and symbolic guides.
