The Tulipe Collection by Maison Daum: crystal at skin level

Created in 2004, this collection draws inspiration from the Art Deco aesthetic, an iconic movement for the Daum crystalworks, and celebrates the floral art in crystal so dear to the House for 150 years. An elegant flower, with soft, smooth petals, delicately edged, as if just picked and already set. The Tulipe collection celebrates the natural grace of the tulipe in full bloom. The Tulipe Vase, Tulipe Bowl, and Tulipe Dish tell the story of the pure beauty of its blossoming, in all its stages. The Tulipe Vase reflects the flower just beginning to open, revealing the perfect shape of its calyx. The Tulipe Bowl and Dish capture it as it fully unfurls its petals, at the height of its flowering. The fruit of the unique expertise of the Daum Crystalworks, this collection celebrates the power of crystal to sculpt life in all its sensitivity. The purity of the crystal in these pieces invites light to penetrate to their very heart. Reflected and refracted, it is sculpted by every detail of the petals, shaped by the color of the flower's calyx. As if illuminated from within, each piece reveals a profound radiance, a rich and vibrant shimmer that varies throughout the day, from subtle to flamboyant, as if the material still remembered the fire that forged it. A symbol of perfect love, the tulipe embodies a gentle blend of strength and fragility. So delicate in appearance, it is reborn each spring, luminous and bursting with freshness. Frozen in crystal, the flower is eternally reborn, revealing its brilliance at every moment.

Daum Tulipe Collection: a flower brought to life by 150 years of crystal-making expertise
In the Tulipe collection, light becomes matter. This evocative power rests on two skills specific to the manufacture: a unique way of working with crystal and a mastery of color unique in crystal making.

A technique devised for a vibrant tribute to life
In the 1960s, the artisans at Maison Daum adapted an age-old technique traditionally used for bronze casting: the lost-wax casting process. The piece is first sculpted in wax with the utmost precision, then encased in a refractory mold that accurately preserves every detail. Under the effect of extremely high temperatures, the wax melts and is thus lost. It gives way to the crystal paste which, once fired and removed from the mold, gives shape to the final piece. This technique allows for the creation of light, elegant, and finely detailed forms, with a degree of subtlety uncommon in crystal making.

Colored crystal in a gradient: a signature of Maison Daum
Amber yellow, intense blue, and deep red are presented here in all their shades, from the palest to the most vibrant. The gradient coloring of the crystal, a process invented by Daum, mimics the most delicate nuances of tulipe petals. A technical and artistic signature of Daum, each hue in the Tulipe Collection, in all its variations, is the result of a precise, millimeter-precise dosage of oxides in the crystal paste. From its beginnings at the end of the 19th century, the Daum factory has distinguished itself through a fruitful alliance between industry, art, and craftsmanship. The Daum Tulipe Collection embodies this heritage in all its splendor. Inspired by nature, it testifies to a unique and masterful savoir-faire, nurtured by passion year after year. An ambassador of a certain French art of living, it embodies this synthesis of tradition, innovation, culture, nature, craftsmanship, and emotion.
