Since 2009, Maison Daum has maintained a vibrant collaboration with the French artist Hervé Di Rosa, a key figure in French contemporary art. Together, they create unique and powerful works, where the artist's teeming universe finds a new resonance in the crystal glass. An unclassifiable artist, an insatiable globetrotter, and founder of MIAM (International Museum of Modest Arts) in Sète, Hervé Di Rosa is one of the pioneers of the Free Figuration movement. This artistic movement claims total freedom of creation by abolishing the boundaries between high art and popular culture. Di Rosa draws his inspiration from comics, primitive arts, crafts, graffiti, and popular iconography, which he assembles in a vibrant, spontaneous, and deeply narrative graphic language. His commitment to Modest Art, which he defines as a celebration of often marginal forms, everyday objects, and forgotten aesthetics, guides his entire approach. Each work is an ode to diversity, collective imagination, and the richness of local expressions. His art, which is both colorful, joyful, and symbolic, finds a unique echo in the luminous material of crystal.
With Daum, Hervé Di Rosa transposes his generous universe into a new dimension. The emblematic piece "King of Hearts," produced in a limited edition, is the perfect illustration: an anthropomorphic heart sculpted with tenderness and exuberance, inspired by a work created in Cameroon. The crystal glass, mastered by the Manufacture using the lost-wax casting technique, enhances the sensual forms, stylized details, and vibrant colors dear to the artist. This collaboration is part of Daum's centuries-old tradition, which unites the greatest names in art with the exceptional know-how of the crystal factory. With Hervé Di Rosa, Daum brings together folk art and luxury, spontaneity and precision, to give birth to colorful, resolutely modern, and profoundly human sculptures.
