Revival of the glassblowers' workshop.
At the heart of the Vannes-le-Châtel factory, the historic birthplace of Maison Daum, an ancestral gesture is being reborn: that of the crystal glassblower. True to its pioneering spirit, Daum has chosen to revive its glassblowing workshop to restore an artistic, sensitive, and profoundly human dimension to tableware.
Since 1878, glassmaking has accompanied the history of the House. Long before crystal paste became its iconic signature, Daum already mastered the art of blown parison, crafting glasses where light, transparency, and accurate proportions sublimated daily use. Reviving this expertise means reconnecting with the very essence of glass art.
Today, Daum is bringing this rare skill back in-house by once again gathering glassblowers in its workshops. Each glass is born from a subtle dialogue between fire and breath, between technical mastery and the sensitivity of the gesture. The gather, mouth-blown, is hot-worked to achieve impeccable fineness and regularity, while retaining the singular vibration of handmade craftsmanship. This return to glassblowing is part of a contemporary vision of tableware. Daum glasses are distinguished by the combination of two complementary savoir-faire: the lightness of blown crystal and the sculptural power of crystal paste, used for the stems, signature elements of the House. Each piece thus becomes a work of art in its own right, designed to accompany the gesture, enhance tasting, and capture light.
The crystal used is lead-free, guaranteeing perfect neutrality when in contact with drinks, while offering exceptional brilliance and resonance. The bowls can be combined with different stems, allowing for aesthetic coherence on the table and great creative freedom. Through the revival of this workshop, Daum reaffirms its desire to place time, craftsmanship, and emotion at the heart of creation. These tableware glasses are not mere functional objects: they embody a philosophy, that of a lifestyle where the everyday becomes precious, and where every shared moment is illuminated by the breath of crystal.
